Community Action Committee

At ILWU Local 21, our commitment extends to our community through the diligent work of our Community Action Committee. This committee operates with a focus on solidarity, outreach, and service.

Every three months, the committee convenes at The Community House on Broadway to provide a warm meal to the homeless population. Our dedicated group plans, gathers supplies, cooks and serves the dinners to the residents of Community House.

During the holiday season, our committee organizes the annual Holiday Toy Drive, demonstrating the spirit of giving among our members. These donated toys find new homes through the Salvation Army, ensuring that disadvantaged children have a brighter holiday season.

Moreover, the Community Action Committee consistently seeks opportunities to strengthen the connection between Local 21 and our community. This includes support for local charities, participation in community events, and providing aid when the community faces challenges.

In every act of service, our Community Action Committee reflects the enduring values of ILWU Local 21—commitment, unity, and the conviction that our union's impact extends beyond the workplace and into the lives of those within our community.
